NEWS I'm not dead. Just busy. Not dead, y'hear? Put down my stuff, I'll be needing that. Except the wallpaper, you can keep that. In fact, I insist. 
Also available in 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 960 resolutions, as always. Meanwhile, like I said, I've been busy. And it's about to get worse, as lectures stop and I spend the next two months building an animated short from the ground up. But the visuals it produces should be worth reporting in the interim. Thus far, I have completed a set of skyscrapers that our world has never imagined, and am about to start on a set of semi-organic wings. In other news, um, not much. I bought Final Fantasy VII Advent Children on DVD yesterday, as I believe I promised to do when the movie first hit the Net. Information-based economy is different to material economy, as this situation probably demonstrates. It's a lesson that precious few distributers have learned thus far - your product is its own best advertisement. It's the reason I've got two CDs on order from Sweden - Machinae Supremacy have whole albums' worth of MP3s on their site, of which both the gesture and the music have impressed me and had me saying 'I'm gonna buy that CD soon' for years. So I finally did, when I had the money. Hopefully, I'll have another update next week. But there is much to be done. ART This is a zBrush-sculpted critter, done over two afternoons a month or two ago. It's nothing to do with my current project, although I could definitely work with it if I hadn't just made a single disembodied head and not optimised its geometry for animation. I began with a fairly rough Maya model, with barely enough detail to make out eyesockets. Then I sculpted, painted, shadered (is that a word? It is now) and rendered in zBrush, using a handy skin shader that one of my classmates found. The output was a little light for my liking, so I used Curves in Photoshop to up the contrast a little. Hopefully, one day you'll see more of this guy's race (or is it girl? They're amphibians, the difference is different to mammalian sexual dimorphism). |
